NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Connor Burslem, a 32-year-old North Charleston man, was arrested Tuesday and now faces one count of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, a felony charge.
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, whose investigators sit on a statewide task force that targets internet crimes against children, carried out the arrest. Investigators say Burslem had files of child sexual abuse material in his possession.
The investigation began after a tip was sent to a national reporting line that tracks the online exploitation of children. Several other local, state and federal agencies on the same task force helped investigators build the case.
If he is convicted, Burslem could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison on the single felony count. Prosecutors from the Attorney General’s Office will handle the case in court, and the charge remains an accusation that has not been proven.
