BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. — A rider on a motorcycle was killed after striking an SUV just before dawn on Nov. 3 where Cypress Gardens Road meets Lazy Hill Road in Berkeley County, the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported.
Troopers put the time near 5:50 a.m. The motorcycle was headed south on Cypress Gardens Road as a Dodge SUV from 2020 tried turning north out of Lazy Hill Road onto the same route, and the vehicles came together in the intersection.
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office named the rider as Nevada Sage McCall, 31, of Moncks Corner. McCall was taken to a hospital and later died. The SUV driver, alone in that vehicle, walked away without injury.
Cpl. Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said investigators are still reconstructing the turn. Officials also said Berkeley County has now recorded four motorcycle deaths on its roads since late September.
No additional charges had been announced as of Nov. 4. Highway Patrol continues to review lighting, sight lines and how the left turn from Lazy Hill Road was made.
