NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — The two drivers who died in a head-on wrong-way collision on the Don Holt Bridge in North Charleston, S.C., early Sunday have been identified by the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.
Jake Stevens, 35, of Radstock in the United Kingdom, was heading toward Daniel Island in the westbound lanes of Interstate 526 when his car hit another vehicle at about 2:52 a.m., the North Charleston Police Department said. The other driver, Robert Brown, 49, of West Ashley, and Stevens both died at the scene.
A third vehicle then ran into the two wrecked cars. Its driver was taken to a hospital, and that person’s name and condition have not been made public.
North Charleston police are still investigating and want anyone who saw the crash to contact the department through its CrimeWatch portal.
The same section of I-526 saw a similar early-morning wrong-way wreck in September 2025, when a 21-year-old driver going the wrong way near the top of the bridge was killed after a head-on collision.
