FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. — Charleston Southern’s women golfers led from start to finish at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate and pulled away to win by 21 strokes, giving head coach Andy Serketich his first tournament title with the program.
The Buccaneers finished at 899, which was 35 over par, on the resort’s par-72 Ocean Creek layout. They posted rounds of 295 and 297 before a 307 in the final round. The runner-up team, North Carolina Central, came in at 920, and a pair of schools, Presbyterian and North Carolina A&T, split third place with 941 apiece.
Felicity Lamkin and Majken Vallmar each shot 223 to share runner-up honors in the individual race. Lamkin opened with a 1-under 71. Katerina Smolikova tied for fifth at 226 and Khloe Jones placed ninth at 227.
Medalist honors went to a North Carolina Central player, who erased a six-stroke gap by turning in the lone sub-par card of the last round.
