The Piper at Legends Golf Resort to Open October 2

The Piper, a new par 3 golf course at Legends Golf Resort in Myrtle Beach, is scheduled to open to the public on October 2, 2026. This announcement comes as the Myrtle Beach World Amateur, a significant golf tournament, is underway, drawing over 3,000 players globally.

The course, designed by Ken Baker, was first announced in June and is named after Scottish folklore musicians. It features holes ranging from 54 to 120 yards, spread across a 12-acre area. The design emphasizes a social atmosphere with three-hole loops, food and drink stops, lighting, and music, aiming to offer a unique experience along the Grand Strand.

Larry Woodberry, director of operations for Legends Golf Resort, stated that the course has developed exactly as intended, providing an experience for both resort guests and the local community. Construction is nearing completion within the resort’s 30-acre practice facility, which also includes a lighted grass range, a 50,000-square-foot putting green, and a short game area.

From its opening on October 2 through the end of 2026, Legends Golf Resort will offer limited play on The Piper to both resort guests and the public. Further details regarding tee time bookings, opening day availability, and evening programming will be released soon. Additional amenities and experiences for The Piper are planned for unveiling before the 2027 golf season. The opening of The Piper marks the initial phase of a broader strategy to enhance the golf and entertainment offerings at Legends Golf Resort.

While this development is in Myrtle Beach, it contributes to the broader appeal of South Carolina as a golf destination, which can draw visitors from across the state, including Charlestonians interested in golf tourism. The state’s golf industry is a significant economic driver, complementing Charleston’s own tourism sector.
