Colts Now Willing to Deal Jonathan Taylor

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Running back Jonathan Taylor is now on the table in Indianapolis, as the 2-5 Colts have signaled they will listen to offers for their star ball carrier before the Nov. 10 trade deadline.

Several clubs have already called, and the discussions were described Saturday as live. Denver, Green Bay, Minnesota, the New York Giants and Seattle are among the teams believed to have shown at least some interest in the three-time Pro Bowl selection.

The shift marks a change for an organization whose owners had been reported as reluctant to part with Taylor. It also fits a week of selling: the Colts sent guard Quenton Nelson to Seattle and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to San Francisco, and receiver Josh Downs has asked to be moved. The franchise fired general manager Chris Ballard after a Week 6 loss to a Tennessee team that had not won a game.

Taylor, 27, has run for 587 yards this fall and leads the league with eight rushing touchdowns. Across seven seasons he has piled up 9,832 yards from scrimmage and 84 scores.

He would not be a short-term rental. Taylor signed a two-year, $44 million extension in August that keeps him under contract through 2028, at $15 million in 2027 and $9.46 million in 2028. Indianapolis already covered a $15 million signing bonus before this season, which lowers the remaining cost for any team that acquires him.

No asking price has been made public. With five suitors in the mix, Indianapolis may hold out for more than a second-round pick, the package most often floated in outside speculation.

Taylor has said he is proud to play for the Colts while acknowledging a deal could happen.
