CLEMSON, S.C. — Charleston Southern left Memorial Stadium in Clemson on Saturday, Oct. 17, on the wrong end of a 37-0 shutout, with the Buccaneers held to 76 yards of total offense.
The game was decided before halftime. Clemson scored 24 points in the second quarter and took a 34-0 lead into the break, having outgained the Buccaneers 212 to 64 in total yardage while building a 16-5 advantage in first downs over the first two quarters.
The Buccaneers had their best early chance on their first possession, pushing to the Clemson 32-yard line before a 50-yard field goal try sailed wide left. A later trip into Tigers territory ended with a fumbled snap on fourth-and-3 at the 17, and a fumble on a kickoff gave Clemson a defensive touchdown.
The Clemson defense sacked Buccaneers passers four times and made 13 tackles for loss, a season high. The win lifted Clemson to 4-2 and was its first shutout since beating South Carolina in 2021, though the Tigers managed only three points after halftime.
A 59-yard kick sent Clemson into halftime, and only one field goal in program history has traveled farther. Virginia Tech visits next Saturday for the Tigers’ homecoming game.
