Nintendo Updates Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake

KYOTO, Japan — Nintendo has pushed out a version 1.1.1 update for its remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2, one day before the game goes on sale worldwide on Thursday, Nov. 5.

Nintendo’s patch notes list two changes. The update turns on support for Zelda Notes, a feature inside the Nintendo Switch mobile app, and it fixes several unspecified problems to make the game run more smoothly. Players are asked to follow on-screen setup steps for Zelda Notes the first time they start the game after updating.

Zelda Notes keeps a record of a player’s accomplishments, quizzes players on the game and lets them write and share their own ocarina songs. It does not require a paid Switch Online membership.

The download is roughly 343MB and brings the game to about 24.8GB on the system. Launch-day patches are common for Nintendo, which often uses them to switch on online features. Some early copies of the game were already in circulation, which may explain why online functions waited for the launch update.

The remake brings updated graphics and gameplay changes to the 1998 Nintendo 64 classic, and it supports amiibo figures.
