Charleston Solicitor Clears Fourth Man Mace Accused

Published October 16, 2026 at 6:08 am | By Lydia Wagner, Staff Reporter

HERE BREAKING

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Solicitor Scarlett Wilson, who heads the 9th Circuit Solicitor’s Office in Charleston, told state investigators there is no evidence that Brian Musgrave of the Fort Mill area committed any crime, even though U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace publicly accused him alongside three other men.

Wilson laid out her view in an August letter to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division after SLED gave her its report on the allegations Mace made in a February 2025 speech on the House floor. Large parts of the 18-page letter were blacked out, but the sections about Musgrave were left readable.

In those pages, Wilson wrote that the agency received no allegation against Musgrave and no proof tying him to wrongdoing, so he will not be charged.

SLED arrested the other three men on Oct. 14 in a case tied to a 2018 incident at a Sullivan’s Island home involving a woman agents say was too intoxicated to consent. John Osborne, 46, faces criminal sexual conduct and assault charges. Patrick Bryant, 53, a former fiance of Mace, is charged with voyeurism. Eric Bowman, 46, faces voyeurism and obstruction counts and is also accused of naming the victim publicly.

Mace declined on Oct. 15 to respond to the solicitor’s findings. The charges are accusations, and the three men are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
