More than 30 employers and resource partners will fill ECPI University on Paramount Drive in North Charleston today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the Charleston County Workforce Career Fair, co-hosted by Charleston County and SC Works Trident as the opening event of the county's Workforce Development Month lineup.
The roster on the floor cuts across the region's biggest employers and public agencies. Charleston County Consolidated 911 Center, Charleston County EMS, the Charleston County School District, Charleston Water System, the Charleston County Public Library, the Town of Mount Pleasant, MUSC Health, the College of Charleston, The Citadel and St. John's Fire Department will hire alongside private employers including Detyens Shipyard, Beemok Hospitality Collection, Hotel Bennett, Lineage Logistics, O.L. Thompson Construction, Mediterranean Shipping Company (USA), Allegiance Flag Supply, Sea Island Land Development, Spinx Company and RATP Dev.
Resource partners on site will include Operation Palmetto Employment, the South Carolina Department of Social Services, the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department, the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, and Trident Technical College. Job seekers are asked to bring an updated resume and to come prepared for an on-site interview or to apply on the spot; SC Works Trident also pairs individuals with a career coach for resume help by appointment for those who want to prepare before a later event.
Two more fairs follow this month for job seekers who cannot make today's event. A workforce career fair is set for Sept. 17 in Dorchester County at 301 N. Hickory Street, and a Public Service Career Fair is scheduled for Sept. 23 at the Charleston Area Convention Center.
