Cougars Host William & Mary in Key CAA Series

CHARLESTON , S . C. – Two of the top four teams in the CAA standings meet this weekend when College of Charleston hosts William & Mary at Patriots Point.

The Cougars and Tribe open the series Friday at 4 p.m. followed by games Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth all three days. Saturday is a Bark at the Park day with fans encouraged to bring their dogs to the game. A required waiver form is online and will also be available at the entrance.

The Cougars enter the series tied for second in the CAA with Northeastern at 9-3, one game behind UNCW, while William & Mary is in fourth place with an 8-4 league mark. UNCW plays at Northeastern this weekend. Charleston is riding a five-game winning streak and has captured 11 of its past 12 to raise its overall record to 25-10. The Tribe is 25-12 including a 4-2 win over then-No. 6 Duke on April 9.

The series features the top two pitching teams in the CAA, with the Cougars leading the league with an ERA of 3.67 followed by the Tribe’s 3.99. Individually, five of the top seven starting pitchers in the conference come from these two schools. Charleston’s Jake Brink is third in the CAA in ERA (2.43), Connor Campbell is sixth (3.33) and Aidan Hunter is seventh (3.43). Nate Knowles (1.52) and Zack Potts (2.11) of William & Mary rank first and second, respectively.

The Cougars hold a 26-12 lead in the all-time series, including two of three last season in Williamsburg and a victory in the CAA Tournament at Patriots Point. The series wraps up a seven-game homestand for the Cougars, who do not return home until they face The Citadel on May 7.
