Chester County, SC – Teen Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shootings

Authorities in Chester County, South Carolina, have arrested an 18-year-old suspect in connection with a pair of shootings that left one man dead and two others injured late Saturday evening. The suspect, identified as Ronrico Lamont McCullough Jr., is facing multiple serious charges related to the incident.

The shootings occurred near McClinton Road and Ridgeway Road in Great Falls. While the Chester County Sheriff’s Office reported on social media about the incident, they did not specify the exact time of the shootings. The deceased victim, a male, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two other victims were hospitalized and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Shortly after the shootings, McCullough was apprehended in the Charlotte area. He has since been extradited back to South Carolina and remains in custody, awaiting a bond hearing. McCullough faces numerous charges including:

  • Murder
  • Two counts of attempted murder
  • Two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime
  • Two counts of discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling
  • First-degree burglary
  • Armed robbery

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming as new details emerge. In response to the incidents, authorities temporarily closed Highway 21 between Old Winnsboro Road and Highway 200 to facilitate their investigation.

Previous Incidents and Continued Violence

This latest shooting combines with a concerning pattern of violence in the area. Just last week, another shooting incident on Ridgeway Road resulted in injuries to three individuals, including two 17-year-olds. The Great Falls Police Department, along with the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division, is also participating in the ongoing investigation into these violent incidents.

The rise in gun-related violence in Chester County has raised concerns among residents, especially as these shootings represent a growing trend. The community is left grappling with fear and uncertainty in the wake of these violent events. Further updates from law enforcement are anticipated as the investigation progresses.

Officials continue to urge anyone with information about the shootings to come forward as they work to ensure justice is served and to prevent future incidents in the community.
