The community is urged to remain vigilant, particularly about locking their cars, as investigations continue into the suspect’s activities.

Mount Pleasant Sees Another Stolen Vehicle Incident

In the charming town of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, a recent event has raised eyebrows and highlighted ongoing concerns about vehicle thefts in the area. On a regular Wednesday, a 25-year-old Charleston man found himself on the wrong side of the law after being arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and a firearm.

Alert Officers to the Rescue

It all started back on January 15 when the Mount Pleasant Police Department received a notification about a stolen license plate making its way into town. Thanks to the swift actions of the police, the stolen vehicle was quickly located parked in front of a well-known Great Clips on Market Centre Boulevard. Talk about a bad hair day!

Unmasking the Suspect

As officers were keeping a close eye on the vehicle, they noticed the suspect, along with his rather suspicious behavior. Mark Rivers was seen approaching the vehicle and attempting to unlock it. This was a classic case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but it got a lot more complicated from there.

The Traffic Stop

After making an observation, officers initiated a traffic stop on Rivers. When questioned about the vehicle, Rivers gave conflicting explanations about how he acquired it. It’s never a good sign when your story doesn’t add up, and in this situation, it certainly didn’t help Rivers’ case.

A Shocking Discovery

A subsequent search of the vehicle proved to be an eye-opener. What did the officers find? None other than a Palmetto State Armory handgun, complete with ammunition. To add to the intrigue, there were also five cell phones found inside the vehicle. Talk about a complicated situation! This discovery has led authorities to seek search warrants for all five cell phones as part of their ongoing investigation.
