He was a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he earned his law degree from the USC School of Law. Gedney went on to become the lead attorney at the Law Offices of Gedney M. Howe III P.A., where his sharp wit and larger-than-life personality quickly made him a respected figure in the legal field.

Gedney didn’t just work with high-profile clients; he offered guidance to various businesses, schools, and even the state of South Carolina. One of his most notable projects was the extensive 20-year restoration of 16 Meeting Street—formerly known as the Calhoun Mansion. During this endeavor, he built lasting friendships with local artisans and craftsmen, solidifying his status as a dedicated member of the Charleston community.
