Charleston is set to host the second annual Food & Wine Classic from November 14 to 16, promising an exciting weekend filled with culinary delights. This festival, organized by Food & Wine, Travel + Leisure, and Southern Living, with support from Explore Charleston, will showcase the city’s vibrant food scene alongside some of the most recognized names in the culinary world.

Attendees can look forward to a three-day immersive experience featuring over 40 unique events, including seminars, cooking demonstrations, wine and spirits tastings, and engaging panel discussions. Each event is designed to provide a rich and engaging insight into the culinary arts, celebrating both local flavors and global influences.

This year’s lineup boasts an impressive roster of culinary stars, including the likes of Emeril Lagasse, E.J. Lagasse, Kwame Onwuachi, Gail Simmons, Tyler Florence, and Andrew Zimmern. These renowned chefs will not only lead various workshops but also engage with festival-goers to share their culinary knowledge and experiences.

One of the highlights of the festival is the Grand Tasting, where more than 100 winemakers, distillers, and food purveyors from Charleston and beyond will present their best offerings. This tasting event is sure to attract food enthusiasts eager to sample a diverse array of wines and spirits.

Unique Experiences to Savour

The festival kicks off on the evening of November 14 with the Pearls of the Coast: Oyster Roast. This event allows guests to enjoy fire-roasted oysters under a starlit sky, along with craft cocktails and fine wines, all set to the backdrop of live jazz music. It offers an incredible opportunity to mingle with celebrated chefs while indulging in some of the South’s favorite culinary traditions.

On November 15, Southern Living will host the Tailgate at The Dunlin, a festive event replicating a Southern college football tailgate. Guests can expect a lively atmosphere featuring cocktails, live music, and delicious BBQ prepared by acclaimed pitmasters and culinary stars, providing a quintessential Southern experience.

Interactive Workshops

Throughout the weekend, a series of interactive workshops entitled Sea to Table: Crabbing & Cooking in the Lowcountry will be conducted on the docks of the Ashley River. Local experts will guide participants in traditional net casting techniques and crabbing, followed by hands-on cooking sessions led by chefs from popular Charleston restaurants. Each session will culminate in a private luncheon featuring the fresh catch of the day, highlighting the region’s rich seafood offerings.

Ticket Information

Tickets for the Food & Wine Classic are currently on sale, with early bird pricing available for a three-day Consumer Pass. This pass grants ticket holders access to all culinary programming, which includes the Grand Tasting Pavilion and special events like the Oyster Roast and Tailgate. Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to engage with local culinary talent including Mike Lata, James London, Carrie Morey, and Rodney Scott, among others.

Furthermore, Jacqui Gifford, the editor-in-chief of Travel + Leisure, will curate experiences that showcase local attractions and culture, enriching the festival experience for all attendees.
