Development in Charleston: Six Townhomes Planned for Sportsman Island

Progress in urban development continues in Charleston as agendas for fresh proceedings involving area development are passed. The main project on the schedule is constructing six townhomes on Sportsman Island Drive, comprising 0.58 acres. As per the local zoning codes, the area is categorized as a General Business site. The owner of the site, Benjamin Stein, has appointed Barrier Island Engineering & Consulting as the applicant for the development procedures.

Prior Week’s Development Results

Last week, several plans came up for review before the Technical Review Committee. A few highlights include the proposed ‘Point Hope Pod 4 – Ph 1,’ a plan for constructing 123 single-family residences on 119.1 acres at 1236 Clements Ferry Road. The project, owned by Pulte Home Company LLC and proposed by Thomas & Hutton Engineering, is under revision.

The ‘Primus Park Concept Plan’ also seeks to develop a conceptual roadmap for utilities and roads to serve a future residential project involving 102 lots on 108 acres at 500 Verdant Way. The project is owned by McAlister Togant Clements LLC and being designed by Thomas & Hutton Engineering. It is also under revision.

Additional Developments in Progress

Other key developments incorporated ‘Restore At Point Hope Phase 3,’ a plan to build development incorporating 228 single-family attached units on 20.16 acres at 1236 Clements Ferry Road. This project, owned by The Berry Company and proposed by Thomas & Hutton Engineering, is under revision as well.

The ‘Tuxbury Farm Subdivision,’ a plan for an 83 lot mixed-use development on 15.1 acres at 2682 SC Highway 41, is another notable proposition. The site, owned and applied for development by the Toll Brothers, is currently undergoing revisions. Similarly, a site plan for a proposed three-story mixed-use building at 211 Seven Farms Drive by SLS Development LLC and C Baker Engineering is also under revision.

Concluding the list is an ambitious project named ‘Alliance Apartments – Ph. 1.’ It is a proposal to create a development of 336 multifamily residences with supporting infrastructures on 23.9 acres at 1730 Clements Ferry Road. The project, owned by Seven Sticks LLC and proposed by Seamon, Whiteside & Associates, is also waiting for improvements and amendments before the final approval.

Looking Forward: Urban Development in Charleston

The city, which is experiencing rapid growth and expansion, continually receives and reviews various ambitious developmental projects. The updates on the Sportsman Island Drive project and others spell progress in Charleston’s urban development journey. Providing housing and improving the infrastructure, these construction projects promise to enhance the city’s landscape, add value, and ensure sustainable development. As the projects undergo revision before making headway, the local residents and prospective homebuyers await the successful fruition of these developments.
