Charleston – The 18th annual Lexus Charleston Fashion Week 2024 is set to take place on October 11 and 12 at Festival Hall in downtown Charleston. This highly anticipated event will showcase high-end runway shows, interactive entertainment experiences, and chic parties, drawing attention from both local and national fashion enthusiasts.

The two-day program will heavily feature local designers while also introducing emerging talents through a special competition. Among the local designers spotlighted this year are Finicky Filly, Kiku Refashion, Francis + Benedict, and T.D. McMurry. Each of these designers is known for their innovative approaches to fashion, contributing to the vibrant tapestry of Charleston’s style scene.

The Emerging Designers Competition will include participation from aspiring designers from notable cities such as Los Angeles, New York City, and Philadelphia, alongside local talents. Participants in this competition include Fiona Rose, Wick Leathers, RèJuvón, Roxanne Walton Collection, Emily Westenberger the Label, and Emmvy Designs. This focus on emerging designers highlights the commitment to fostering fresh talent in the fashion industry.

Local designer Francis + Benedict stands out for its commitment to sustainability and purpose, utilizing high-fashion African wax-printed fabrics in its collections. The brand also plays a vital role in supporting seamstresses in Togo, West Africa, combining artistry with community engagement. Similarly, Kiku Refashion focuses on sustainability by transforming vintage Japanese silk garments into contemporary fashion pieces, further emphasizing environmentally-friendly practices within the fashion industry.

In addition to the runway shows, the event will feature various interactive experiences at the CFW Style Lounge. Attendees can expect a beauty and perfume bar, as well as accessory purveyors showcasing their latest products. This blend of fashion and interactive elements aims to create a comprehensive experience for guests beyond mere observation.

On the evening of October 12, the “Dressed to Impress” showcase will highlight styles from participating designers, including T.D. McMurry, Finicky Filly, Kiku Refashion, and Francis + Benedict. This showcase promises to deliver additional entertainment, ensuring that the evening is both visually impressive and engaging for attendees.

Another exciting aspect of this year’s fashion week is the Reinvented Competition, a collaborative effort between LIXIL and regional architects and designers aimed at creating Art Deco-inspired fashion looks. This initiative underlines the intersection of art and fashion, providing a platform for creative expression.

Tickets for Charleston Fashion Week 2024 are available starting at $95 and can be purchased through the official event website. Models will grace the runway, showcasing a diverse array of collections produced by local and national designers, reinforcing the event’s aim to highlight the fashion industry’s impact within Charleston and beyond.

As Charleston Fashion Week approaches, it offers an excellent opportunity for the community to engage with the world of fashion – not just as spectators, but as participants in a broader cultural dialogue about style, sustainability, and creativity.
