Charleston Baseball Drops Series Against A&T

Charleston, SC –

College of Charleston baseball fell 18-4 on Sunday in the series finale with North Carolina A&T. The Aggies win clinches a series victory over the Cougars to start CAA play.

Connor Campbell Gets the Start

Connor Campbell got the start for Charleston on the mound. The veteran struggled early as A&T scored three runs in the first and another two in the second. Another run in the fourth made it a 6-0 game before Campbell was lifted.

Charleston Fights Back

Charleston was held without a hit until the fourth inning when Ben Gibbs came through with a two-run single to make it a 6-3 game. However, the Aggies responded with six runs in the sixth and five runs in the seventh to put the game away.

Key Players

Tatsunori Negishi dominated at the plate for A&T, racking up five hits, four RBI, and three runs. Brent Gibbs finished 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Cole Mathis went 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI double. Dylan Johnson picked up an RBI with a bases-loaded walk.

Notes

Brent Gibbs picked up his first career RBI with his two-RBI single in the fifth. Gibbs picked up his first career hits yesterday with a 3-for-4 effort in the Cougars’ game two win over A&T. Will Venables singled in the 8th for his first career hit.

Upcoming Game

Charleston travels to Georgia Southern on Tuesday for a midweek game. The Cougars and Eagles squared off last Tuesday in Statesboro with the Cougars winning 8-6.
