# Charleston Woman Drowned in Kiawah Island Beach Club Pool

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. — Detectives with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office are looking into the death of a Charleston woman who was found in a swimming pool early Wednesday at Kiawah Island Beach Club.

Someone at the club spotted her unresponsive in the water at about 7:40 a.m. on Oct. 14, sheriff’s detectives said. Lexi Douglas, a spokesperson for the sheriff, confirmed the timeline.

Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal identified the woman as Meredith Wrenn, 45. The coroner ruled that she drowned.

Along with patrol deputies, the sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division and its Forensic Services Unit went to the scene. Charleston County Emergency Medical Services, the St. Johns Fire Department and the coroner’s office also responded.

The sheriff’s office is leading the case. Investigators have not said what led to the drowning or whether anything suspicious was found.
