James Island, S.C. — James Island remains one of only a handful of unbeaten teams in South Carolina high school football and sits near the head of the statewide rankings heading into Week 9.

High School On SI lists James Island among the programs still chasing a perfect season with three weeks left in the regular season, alongside Dutch Fork and Daniel. The Rivals Composite used by Four Quarter Friday has Dutch Fork at No. 1 at 7-0, Northwestern at No. 2, then Dorman and unbeaten James Island completing the early group, with South Pointe rounding out the first five.

James Island is 7-0 overall and hosts Ashley Ridge on Friday as the Trojans chase a Region 5-AAAAA title, according to the Lowcountry high school football schedule.

Oceanside Collegiate, which has already lost to James Island among its three defeats, sits at No. 26 in the Rivals Composite and faces unbeaten Bishop England (7-0) on Friday at Johnson Hagood Stadium in a Region 5-AAA showdown.

Lucy Beckham is among the new additions to the statewide list of the first 50 in the same composite ranking, underscoring a busy Lowcountry stretch as region races tighten.
