CHARLESTON, S.C. — Students with intellectual and developmental disabilities heading to the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C., will have a new source of help with tuition, the Charleston County School District announced on Monday.

The Historic Rotary Club of Charleston and the Charleston Miracle League have established a four-year $5,700 annual scholarship for a student accepted into the CharlestonLIFE program, beginning in the fall of 2027. CCSD students are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship will help offset the program approximately $37,000 annual tuition, and the Rotary club is contributing the majority of the scholarship funding. The club is also working toward a $50,000 goal for an endowed scholarship with the college.

CharlestonLIFE is a fully inclusive, four-year, non-degree certificate program that helps students build academic, independent living, social, and career-readiness skills. The award goes to a CCSD student first, a Tri-county student second, and a South Carolina student third.

Applications for Fall 2027 open August 1, 2026. Early Decision applications are due by November 2, 2026, and Regular Decision applications are due by December 15, 2026.
