South Carolina’s women’s golf team claimed a team title this week, beating Wake Forest 3-1 in match play to win the Jackson T. Stephens Cup at Fields Ranch East, part of the PGA of America’s Frisco, Texas campus.

The event pits some of the top programs in college golf against each other in a match-play format rather than the usual stroke-play scoring, giving the tournament a different, head-to-head intensity than a typical fall invitational. A win of this caliber, on a big stage against a strong Wake Forest squad, gives the Gamecocks a marquee result early in the season to build on as they set their sights on the spring championship stretch.

The men’s title in the same event went to Texas, giving the Longhorns bragging rights on their home turf for 2026 even as South Carolina left with the trophy on the women’s side.

For a program that recruits heavily out of the state’s deep junior golf pipeline, a title against a field of nationally ranked competition sends an early signal about where the Gamecocks stand this year.
