The College of Charleston women’s soccer team closes out its non-conference schedule at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, when the Cougars travel to Conway to face Coastal Carolina at the Chanticleer program’s home complex.

Charleston enters the match at 3-3-2 on the year. The Cougars have posted three wins over Southern Utah, UMass Lowell and South Carolina State, offset by a 5-1 setback on the road at South Carolina in their most recent outing. Sophomore forward Ellie Stewart scored the lone Charleston goal in that match in the 62nd minute, her first of the season and the second of her career.

The host Chanticleers enter at 4-2-0, including a 3-0 record at the CCU Soccer Complex, and are coming off a 1-0 loss to Davidson on Sept. 6. Head coach Pete Cuadrado sits two wins from his 200th career victory. Coastal Carolina averages 11.5 shots per match with a .420 shots-on-goal percentage and ranks 30th nationally with a .861 save percentage anchored by goalkeeper Aris Lamanna, who is 27th in the nation with three shutouts.

Thursday’s meeting will be the 13th between the programs. Coastal Carolina holds a 6-4-2 advantage in the all-time series and has kept a clean sheet in three of the previous 12 meetings. The Chanticleers last defeated the Cougars 2-0 in August 2023.
