The PGA Tour is set to announce its seventh confirmed Championship Series event for 2028 on Monday, as the tour concludes its 2026 season. The full schedule for the 2028 Championship Series, including venues and dates, is expected to be revealed in February 2027, potentially through a standalone event or television special.

Six Championship Series tournaments have already been confirmed: The Sentry, The Sompo Championship, The Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Cadillac Championship, The Travelers Championship, and GO by Raymond James, formerly known as the Wyndham Championship. Other tournaments anticipated to join the top series include the Memorial, Truist Championship, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Genesis Invitational, RBC Heritage, and the WM Phoenix Open.

BMW’s title sponsorship for the BMW Championship concludes after the 2027 tournament. While a renewal is widely expected, BMW’s future involvement could be either within the Championship Series or as part of the tour’s redesigned postseason. Further details regarding the new Tour Championship format are expected to be released next week at the Tour Championship.

For the 20-tournament Challenger Series, the PGA Tour plans to announce three to five events by the end of 2026, with an additional three to five confirmed by February 2027. The complete 2028 Challenger Series schedule is anticipated to be finalized by the 2027 Tour Championship. This series will feature two types of tournaments: seven standalone events broadcast on network television during weekends, and 13 events carried on cable, played concurrently with Championship Series tournaments.

Sponsorships for the seven standalone Challenger Series tournaments are projected to be in the range of $10 million to $15 million, while the remaining 13 events are estimated at around $5 million, though pricing may vary by market. The tour is open to multiple sponsors collaborating for Challenger Series events, similar to the Players Championship’s Proud Partner model, which involves three sponsors. Approximately half of the Challenger events are reportedly accounted for from a sponsorship perspective. The PGA Tour expects to finalize additional competitive elements of its new model during board meetings scheduled for September and November.
